UFO Aircraft

I have seen this thing at the airport here a few times. The array of lights is pretty unreal. Each bulb is wired individually back to some sort of control box in the baggage area. It has a label on it that says "Sky Sign" I suppose he can put messages and such on the array. I figure it is best used to make folks think they saw a UFO

....and talk about drag!!!

There is a Cherokee based at KCCR with the same set up. The control box is computer controlled switching and is located on the back seat within reach of the pilot. He can make in flight adjustments to scroll rate, letter size, flashing, etc. They can synch to outdoor concerts via FM radio simulcast.

That's crazy cool. I thought, from the first pics, it could never work...that's decently impressive, though.

They had the set-up on what now would be an LSA flying over the Chicago lakefront during the fests many years ago. The letters go from wingtip to wingtip and it's works pretty well.

Now you make it full color and dizzy patterns by using spinning LED bars.
