Two survive crash at KFME

man, it's been a rough couple weeks for GA. :(
 
Glad they're OK.

N Number is 6616L, model just says AA-1. The crash site is on the runway centerline, something on departure.

6616L is in the FAA database as being a Piper and cancelled in 1977.
 
Took a long time to get them out,then flown to a trauma center. Hope they recover.
 
I've read that the AA-1 models can be a little tricky at times. Hope they pull thru.
 
News reports today are that one is the transportation director for a local county, the other is a distinguished scientist emeritus for NASA.
 
I was airborne on the same frequency when it went down. Didn't hear anything from them but did hear someone call out that a plane went down at Tipton.
