Some even carry guns. Others do background checks on others, for a fee of course.

Ah but their function is to deter terrorists, not to protect your baggage. Just because the are stealling from your baggage doesn't mean that they are not fulfilling the job that they were hired ot do. (Tongue in Cheek of course)

That's the ticket! The TSA agent was simply removing the electronics from cargo stream to minimized any potential to harm while he thoroughly inspected it to make sure it was harmless.

The TSA has admonished him to no longer use this particular creative security initiative.

We should try and give these guys a break, after all, their only form of income is the paltry salary that they earn as government employees. Trying to make ends meet by ripping off a few items from wealthy travelers should be looked upon as one of the benefits of their job. You know they never could have made it through the rigorous and thorough TSA background check if they were not basically good people.

The whole problem of employee pilferage can not possibly be blamed on TSA management. It is obviously the fault of our congress, for not providing a large enough budget for the smooth operation of the agency. TSA employees would never resort to theft if they were paid a decent wage.

I think all Americans should voluntarily start sending our government an additional ten percent of their income so this problem can be rectified.

I can't seem to be able to get my tongue out of my cheek, I gotta go.

To nitpick the person wasn't an inspector (TSI) but an officer (TSO.) Back to the regularly scheduled pile-on :D

Whew, at least there weren't electronics in the cargo area to spark and cause a potential disaster!

I feel safer already!

No, no, no! You gotta think in terms of preventing what already happened.
