The failure of the laser designator during the target run was no surprise, though, given the piece of ca-ca targeting pod they were flying.
For such a vital mission they should have been using this one:

I forgot to mention earlier....
one other thing I found funny...was the USAF add before the movie. Did that run everywhere?
Didn’t realize they went to such lengths to show off some abs. I know it was @TCABM favorite scene though.
4 Star Quarters are pretty nice regardless of the Branch of Service.Look at Ice. He had a wife and a nice house, but no P-51.
yeah...so many I had to get up to go pee again before the movie started!Yup, and a ton of promo trailers for a dozen coming soon movies.
this talk about how an O-6 could afford a P-51....
The thing I want to know how a person that
get's into play acting,
& who as far as I know never went to get schooled on anything overly difficult or useful such as say engineering , medicine, etc...
maybe even a high school drop out (?)
...how can that person afford a P-51...and afford a helicopter license...and a business jet.... travel the world and do pretty much whatever....and have the clout to get the USN to take him on a bunch of F-18 rides off an aircraft carrier, etc....?
When the credits started to roll, I leaned over and told my wife quietly, "those actors are some lucky SOB's!"

How? Because you and your wife (like millions of others) were willing to pay money to see him act. How much are you willing to pay to watch an engineer?
I am looking forward to Top Gun 4: Grandpas Revenge, staring no other than Tom Cruise as the only 87 year old pilot still actively flying F-18s in the Navy....

entertainment is a funny thing, aint it?
My oldest niece has her master’s degree in Studio Art.Of course, we don’t know about all the millions of wannabes who are trying to have an entertainment career but will never make it.
He’ll be supporting the other three at some point, I’m sure.
You mean you’re going to take them to an old man’s movie?
Booked seats for a 1PM showing tomorrow. Review forthcoming...
Nah, your nieces will all marry doctors, lawyers, or engineers.
Hey, spoiler alert!!! Just for that, I'm going to ruin a few other movies for you. Darth Vader is Luke's father. Die Hard is a Christmas movie. And Soylent Green is the name of his sled.the characters actually using the paddle switch on the stick to override the F-18s G-limiter.
Spoiler alert!!!And by the way, TG-2 is a glider, not a movie.
and those husbands will go to work, daydreaming about having Jennifer Connelly...
And they are very unlikely to ruin the whole thing by making 10 more movies and 5 different streaming series in the next 3 years.
...Should have ended it when Paul Walker died, if not sooner.
My take on it, when I saw the original Fast and Furious was that they never should have started it. Just an absolutely ludicrous story line - kids in souped up Hondas scaring the bejesus out of truckers causing them to swerve wildly in abject panic, yeah right....sure I know, it's just a movie but you can only get away with so much before you start insulting your audience.
Was one of them named Snot Rod?kids in souped up Hondas scaring the bejesus out of truckers causing them to swerve wildly in abject panic
My issue w/ that scene was how the "mission control" screen went dark on break up...like the plane itself was generating the image...I had a hard time believing anyone could walk away from a bail out at Mach 10...
Ever met the kids in souped up Hondas, they do scare the bejesus out of truckers and everyone else on the road!
Granted I was in the car tuner crowd before F&F, and we got a good laugh at the original film but it was at least entertaining.
I need "NAWWWSSSS!"
The problem *has* been addressed before. Both the B-58 and the XB-70 had ejection capsules for their crews. The realities of a high speed ejection.
