According to reports the worst of it was in the Chehalis-Centralia area, which is on I-5 about halfway between Portland and Seattle. A 20-mile stretch of I-5 is closed in that area.

There was a bad flood in that area in December 2007. Chehalis Airport (KCLS) was inundated. All of the airplanes based there were huddled together on a patch of higher ground at the south end of the airport. Ghery, have you heard what's going on at KCLS now?

Here in Vancouver WA, on the north bank of the Columbia River, we only got about a quarter of an inch of rain yesterday, while the town of Cougar, about 25 miles north of here, got over five inches.

That is the reports of the Seattle news, but if you look at the Skagit river valley it is as bad as anywhere.

I think I recall that photo above from Corona CA a couple of years ago?

For chuckles and grins I pulled a DUATS weather brief yesterday for a flight from OLM to CLS. CLS is closed except for emergency aircraft. Don't know if it flooded or not, but based on the quickness with which I-5 was re-opened I suspect that things aren't quite as bad as Dec '07.

We set a 1 day record for rainfall in Olympia a couple days ago. I don't recall the number, but it was pushing 5 inches. We get a lot over the year, but that much in one day is very uncommon here.
