Decent plane...average price...as NRG says, come down $10k, then you'll have yourself a good deal.

Looks like a great plane. They're trying to get money back out for the paint and interior upgrades. I'm puzzled a bit by the number of hours per year using the engine and prop figures. The engine has 763 or 765, depends on which number you use, since 2002 which is 50 hrs per year. The prop has 385 hours in 2 years which is 192 hrs per year in the last two years, dependent on when in 2015 the prop was overhauled. If that is true then In the previous 13 years since the engine overhaul the plane flew 29 hrs per year.

I assume it is VFR because it hasn't had a certification done in a wile for IFR?

Certainly worth checking out.

Looks like a IFR plane to me, just because a VFR owner didn't get the pitot static/xpdr done doesn't mean much, just make it passing part of the sale.

Little over priced, for that money I'd like a HSI and Stec, but not too bad. Personally I'd look at PA24s, probably get a little more bang for your PA buck.

I hired a buyers agent. He took all these guesswork out of the picture for a first time buyer, will do the heavy lifting for you and will get the job done. Worth every penny I spent. His name is Keith Hansen from virtualairplanebrockers.com . They don't advertise buyers service in their website. Call the number and asked for Keith. Very knowledgeable and gem of a person

Yeah. All kinds of legitimate reasons. I'd make sure it's not a case of pass the trash though.

The owner emailed me and said he took a deposit from someone, next time I guess.

I do not endorse, recommend, know of, or otherwise speak for the above service. I do, however, love WannFly despite his atrocious destruction of the English language, and volunteer my services to correct his misspelled link. The proper link is https://virtualairplanebroker.com/.

I know @Tampico Trauma aka Maule Mayhem (as I've dubbed him) is also looking to start a brokerage, so if anyone is in the market for a broker, he seems to be a helluva good guy.

he's only an 'ok' guy until he finds me a solid mooney. THEN he'll be a helluva good guy.

yyyyyyyya. at almost a quarter million $ budget I don't think I'd need much help finding a plane.

Well, I still haven't found one with the stealth package from your initial request. That being said, if you're serious.... I know a guy, but it's got Mexican registration

Guys... I think I found the one...

https://www.trade-a-plane.com/mobil...EROKEE+180&listing_id=2266163&s-type=aircraft

Meets pretty much all my requirements and it's not 1000 miles away

Beautiful plane with an overkill dream avionics stack.

that being said, I'm a mission driven guy. There are things I can't be certain of from ads, but there are many certainties.... like a 48 year old airplane will be full of squawks. Watch for corrosion and my favorite right main gear attach point. A thorough pre-buy by a Cherokee EXPERT.

I think your $60k can go a LONG way on a Cherokee mission.

Go into this plane thinking the avionics are the lipstick on a pig... because this is typically what I see when someone has invested this much money to sell it.

Not shabby.

Paint and interior look nice, needs a wax job but nice, engine isn't too bad time wise, avionics are nice but for a major IFR plane she's missing a good second navcom and a HSI.

I'd probably hit him at 49k and see where it goes.

Also I wouldn't worry about distance, if you're not willing to travel to buy a plane, might not be a good idea to buy a plane

Not everyone needs an HSI. Depends entirely on type of flying & mission.

The ad states GTN650 but it looks like the 625 - only GPS, no com or nav.

Don't they look exactly the same?

It does have a second navcom

And I don't mind traveling for a plane but I'm also a new pilot so a 1000+ mile x country in a plane I've never really flown is out of my personal comfort zone.

Get someone else to go with you. I'm in the process of buying a hopped up 182 that's about 320nm away, and that's what I'll be doing. I don't even have my PPL yet.

I was thinking more of a back up for your primary, like a /G nav com.

True, but for a IMC, not just IFR, plane it's the standard. Just seems odd to spend the money on the touch screen /G add a autopilot and not put in a HSI. Still a nice plane, no doubt, and I'd fly her IFR, but it doesn't look like the panel was out together by someone who had a ton of IMC time, maybe someone who did the upgrade to get their instrument in it.

Hire a pro to fly it, I know one who flew me from Everett.

It's close enough where I'd just fly it myself.
I meant if u find something 1000 miles away... But this seems like a good one. Buy it if pre Buy checks out

Can someone give me a rundown on what I should say/do when I meet the owner? Any secret protocol I should follow when dealing with a seller as a buyer?

I think you should hire a broker if you're serious, and let them deal with all of that. Best thing I ever did.

Make sure you understand when the overhaul was done, not just how many hours.

Find out how many hours on the mags.

Find out when your AI and DG were last overhauled.

Know how old your vacuum pump is.

Ask if they've done oil analysis. I got lucky and my sellers had been doing it for 15 years at Blackstone so I have a long term baseline.

See if they will admit to any quirks with systems. I think my sellers knew about my quirks on my radios but didn't say anything.

Don't be afraid to ask lots of questions and take time to just sit and stare at it for a while.

Or maybe you never have regrets. In that case, hand over the cash and carpe diem.
