Worth the extra cost for CFI spin training rather than a cheap 150?
 
I got to fly one once. Cool plane. The stick was like a baseball bat and there was a PTT for the intercom. Nothing happened fast, it was very graceful, and barrel rolls where you get to look UP at the ground with nothing in between are quite an experience.

Unfortunately, not very practical in the upper Midwest. :( I hate to see planes sit all winter.

The stanton program (and I was the first person to do it, so it may have changed a bit), involved ground instruction and a good amount of air time. We did a variety of spin entries, especially the dreaded skidding turn. One advantage, in my opinion, is that you feel the wind on your face change when you disrupt the normal laminar flow. As wannafly pointed out, the smell changes as well. It's a total sensory immersion into a spin.
