Going to have a small crowd this year and we thinking twice about the turkey and all the associated dishes.. Looking to do something different, maybe an Italian theme, curry theme, standing rib, or something on the grill..

What are some of you doing to avoid overdosing on tryptophan?

One year I got up eary Thanksgiving morning and smoked a pork butt. My wife prepared the rest of the traditional sides, but with BBQ as the main instead of Turkey. It was great, and the smell drove my neighbors nuts!

Still a feathery bird so not what you’re looking for, but we’re doing Cornish game hens. Higher effort but they’re tasty and everyone gets their own.

Or in my case, more like 3 or 4.

We did the traditional Thanksgiving brats and kraut for several years when my wife and I were first married.

4 bone custom prime rib, big pan of cornbread stuffing (the stuff that goes in the turkey, but without a turkey), Au Jus for the gravy, and (of course) Cranberry sauce and creamed horseradish. All served with veggies!

Absolutely no dried out turkey breast, no turkey tetrazzini leftovers, and no regrets!
