The ten highest maintenance dog breeds

If they think dogs are high maintenance, they should check the expenses on some of the foxes in Dallas.

Not sure labs belong in the to ten, only one of the bunch I've had. Ours is quite low maintenance and my dads is high, but even he admits that it's because he has spoiled her.

But my greyhound is just as high maintenance and they are usually low maintenance dogs.

Chesapeake Bay Retrievers didn't make the list and Labs did? I gotta think it's only because Chessies aren't very common. My Chessie easily had 4 time the energy of any Lab I ever owned. And talk about focused. If a Chessie could talk, it'd say "throw the stick, throw the stick, throw the stick, throw the stick, throw the GD stick already!!" all day long and well into the night!

Picked up a Pekingese stray a couple of years ago. Tried to find its owner through local Vets, etc. No Joy!

I always hated those stupid "Flat-nosed" girlie dogs :). Turned out to be one big PITA ;) . But she makes me smile often and she NEVER leaves my side... What a great dog...:D

I don't agree with all of it. Some of the high energy breeds yeah, but not enough of the kind that are a general pain in the butt to keep in proper condition instead of walk every day.

My family used to run sled dogs and we have several malamutes. We have 1 of the long haired version and oh my gosh. In the summer she requires a thorough brushing every day to avoid matts and hotspots. She's so large that the endeavor takes about an hour and a half and most times you half fill a garbage back with the hair that comes out. To top it off as a working dog they possess almost endless energy and when unable to have them "pull" anything they don't even seem satisfied with 4-6 mile walks. I'm sure there are other breeds who are just a big of a time sink to take care of properly.
