the road to my (your?) own LearJet

I've been known to land a lear with multlple failed systems in a sixty knot cross wind. I'd like to see some of you try that. That's right go ahead and laugh but I am the one laughing at you.

You haven't done it yet either, you did it on MSFS which is like saying you're a Rock and Roll legend because you can play Eruption at Expert level on Guitar Hero. Both require some skill and dexterity, but neither are particularly similar to each other.

Sim's are great, but you don't get that "oh ****, I don't have enough energy!" or the "oh ****, I have too much energy!" feeling that you get between your eyes and your butt. :nonod:

This post is absolute text book example of trolling...... the fact that it started, people immediately jumped in and this whacko comes back at precise time to continue fueling it for which people continue to jump in. Text book I tell you.

Now back to the cross posting of pics from Facebook because that is the true value of this thread now.

The view from inside a Lear ...

And you can always walk away from any sim landing! :D
I did have the fire bell in the simulator center go off once, but it wasn't due to my lack of flying skills, I think it was a water leak in the building! :rolleyes2:

Doesn't matter to Dick Galt; no writtens, no logged time, no clue. Simply a legend in his own mind, a fine connoisseur of obsolete aircraft. Good one, Henning, on the "Guitar Hero"...wonder if he can do that in a 60 knot wind.

I see you avoided the question Baboona. Makes me think that perhaps you're a connoisseur of the mundane, and practitioner of failed choices in life, a bitter and disappointed would-be aviator who is jealous of young talent and brilliance such as myself. Ah yes, I see it now. Why else heap scorn on my plans?

And you and Henning are getting each other all worked up over MSFS and Guitar Hero... Who said anything about MSFS and Guitar Hero? You all assume much about me.

no writtens

"no writtens"? bwahahahahahah!

I've read your posts all all over the place here, you career pilots. You rote learn the answers to these "writtens". You even have software to help you rote learn it. Then you just push the right buttons at the right time. Just like a baboon.

;)

Please.

Don't talk to me about how difficult these "writtens" are.

The only way you're going to impress a girl with an airplane is if you have something with range and speed and can afford to take them to far off destinations.

But really, my $1,000 boat is better for having fun with girls than most airplanes.

I used to love standing in the front of a motorboat, looking back at the girls in their bikinis as the boat bounced across the choppy water in the lake. Physics in motion.

Knock yourself out. Please be specific.

I decline to humiliate you any further, Baboona, by engaging you with my superior intellect. You made a grave error by assuming I wouldn't fight back and win and now that I have proved my point I no longer see the need to continue. If you would like to discuss some other points in a civil manner, I would be happy to continue with you.

Good day to you Ma'am!

I am truly astonished at the animosity exhibited by so many here. Why is that? Are you threatened by someone with natural talent and forward thinking and determination? is it so unusual to find an individual of prodigious talent who has been known to conquer ANY type of plane in a sim which everyone knows and must concede is often more difficult than the physical device?

Can't stop laughing. "Are you threatened by someone with natural talent and forward thinking and determination?" Let me give you a free clue - probably 70% of us felt that way. Until we tried to land a real airplane. On a hot, gusty day.

Oh hell yeah, I'm threatened.

By all means, buy yourself a Lear 25. Be the person and get the plane that's the exception to all the rules. Just do it. No good advice here. You know what works for you. Etc, etc.

This one is for Baboona and Gucci Pilot so they don't feel left out.

I'm sure you're a very gifted MSFS pilot - a 60 knot crosswind is quite the accomplishment. When you try that in a real Lear sim, please have them video it for us - it will surely be quite "entertaining". My best guess is that if you tried in in the airplane much above 35 - 40 knots you'd drag a tip tank and make the local evening news. I'm wondering how accurately MSFS duplicates the pitch sensitivity of the real airplane? In the real airplane each degree of pitch change is good for about 800 fpm climb or descent at cruise speed.

Oh well, you won't need to get a commercial or ATP to fly it. They can issue a Lear type on a private, but you will have to fly it to ATP standards. I don't think that will be much of a problem because you are so gifted. Please keep us posted so we can follow your progress. What airplane will you use for your private training? A Cessna 172? Please let us know how long it takes you to solo. Based upon what you've said, I wouldn't expect it to take very long at all, 3 or 4 hours maybe? You ought to be able to knock that out in an afternoon.

Probably yes, and you are right it will be more of a formality for me. Cessna 172 must be one of the easiest planes to fly. So slow and stable. Probably one afternoon is about right.

Because you have never done it in the plane. Hell, I did a 54kt crosswind landing at DFW in a 777 and greased it on. It was in AA's sim. You're flying a PC sim, that's about as accurate to flying a plane as Guitar Hero is to playing a guitar.

Galt, do yourself a favor buy the girls, forget the plane.

So magnanimous of you.

Thank you.

That said, I encourage you to take that step forward and acquire the Learjet project you have described. Do so at your own peril; the situation is fraught with danger. The advice you have received thus far carries some validity, but you have no obligation to follow it. Any of it.

Thanks again. I applaud your decision to step back from your overly aggressive tone with me and to accept that my plan does have its merits. Yes like everything else in life there are risks, but I have carefully evaluated them and know how to proceed now.

Thank you for the humility to accept that there may indeed be truly gifted individuals out there such as myself who can short circuit much of the process that average pilots such as yourself have had to go through. Please don't take that as anything to be embarrassed about. This world needs all types. We need laborers and waitresses and call girls. Everyone has their place and all are responsible for this finely tuned world we can all be proud of.

In Texas, I've known ranchers with intractable situations. They kept-up appearances and championed their own superior skills shamelessly. Big hat, no cattle. Get my drift? If it's advice you want, you've gotten a lot already, and I think you should see that this probably isn't the place to get a lot of cheer-leading for your project. I am happy to engage in civil discourse, but I insist it must be based on an appropriate knowledge base and verifiable information. Ad hominem attacks are out-of-bounds, and usually flag a losing position. I, however, reserve the right to lampoon your preposterous posts.

I don't think this was meant for me? I'm not Texan. There are a few Texans here though. Which one are you referring to?

PS: How tall is that guy with the helmet?

I don't know. To be honest I can't look at that picture. Maybe I am a little homophobic. I just linked it for your pleasure since I suspected you may enjoy it which it appears you have. Perhaps Gucci Pilot can study it and answer that question for you.

Thanks again for your support.

You, sir/miss are delusional.

You (and anyone else responding to this troll) are wasting your time. If he is serious, he is a suicide in the making and there isn't really anything anyone can do.

If he is pulling upon the chain, responding only escalates the craziness.

I choose to ignore.

YMMV

I choose to ignore.

You have a funny way of choosing to ignore

What is suicidal about this plan? Nothing. We're talking about a prodigious talent moving rapidly through the ranks to fly his own classic lear which he has paid for IN CASH and which is lovingly maintained.

Some of you get it some don't. Thanks for the social pointers gucci pilot but no thanks. What kind of places do you dance at? Gucci seriously?

I would challenge any one of you to a competition in the sim on any plane. I am naturally gifted.

And Babboona no it's not about getting babes. I don't need any help there. This is about someone who truly loves aviation and respects one of the finest private jets ever made, the early lear jets. Don't you get that? What are your credentials anyway? i'd like to hear them.

Wow ! Which systems would those be ? How many "systems" on a Lear ? What type Lear ?
I have NO doubt you're "naturally gifted" but where I come from we call that "touched".

Now now, remember, everybody gets a trophy, even those who had to wear a hockey helmet on the short bus.

Hey guys,

Nope this is definitely not me! I actually have my PPL and a bit more common sense :)

My recommendation to JGalt is to get a turboprop like a TBM900 and learn to fly it safely. Or maybe the homebuilt Sonex jet? Start with less challenge and get the ratings. Lots of stupid uber rich cats end up DEAD quickly in biting off more than they can chew off.

I'm fine with flying Bonanzas, 182 and Pipers. If I had that kind of wealth I'd rather have an old warbird like a P51 Mustang or L39!

"I would challenge any one of you to a competition in the sim on any plane."

I'll take that challenge with a small twist. We do it on your little play sim, on which you may or may not be able to beat me. And then we do it in a real Lear 25, in the air not the make believe world. All you have to do is supply the plane, which should be easy to do for someone with your superior everything. My guess is that you would not be able to even keep it on the taxiway to the runway.
What do you say? I'm free this week. You can pick the airport.

^^^^ yeah that.

Home PC SIM's do not have rudder pedals, trim wheels, brakes, etc.... the dexterity between muscles and operations just ain't there.

Apples and oranges.

Can I come watch?

The reason the old Lears are so damn cheap is because nobody wants them. There are plenty of people running around in private jets, but you'll see, they're not older Lears and the cost to purchase is considerably higher.

That said, they are a hell of a lot cheaper to operate over time. If you really want a jet an old lear isn't going to be what you want.

I suggest you learn to fly (which will be in a small single) and see if you like it. You'll start to see what kind of airplane you really want after you have some hours under your belt.

Technically it doesn't have to start in a single. I know two females who bought light twins in this area in the 90s as their first aircraft and had goals to go to the airlines. One made it for sure. Got hired by Mesa back in the day and sold off the beater. 310. The other landed gear up and broke hers. I never heard if she got back on the horse. Neither had ever held a single engine ticket when I met them. One had a lot more money than the other.

The one with the money landed wheels up???

This is the same troll we have seen here again and again.

Why would we entertain someone without a PPL asking how to buy and fly the space shuttle?

This is beyond stupid.

ignore.

Thank you Bryan!

What the heck is wrong with you guys? Stop feeding the trolls...Didn't you see the signs posted all over. This time it's a warning because you seem like a nice bunch of folks, but next time I'll have to cite you guys.

Didn't the early Lears have a problem with small pitot tubes?

You're on! You didn't think I'd say that did you? Now you're going to have to follow through otherwise I will come on here and fully and publicly humiliate much like I had to do with Baboona.

First of all we need to get through the sim part. If you cannot perform certain operations then there is no way I am going to entrust the controls to you. Once we have determined that you have the basic skills then we will move on to the next phase. I happen to be corresponding with someone who has a lear available and he has agreed to let me have a test flight. He will in the the right seat though. I will say that you are helping me select the right aircraft.

But first things first. I will need you to PM your details so we can go through with the sim testing first. I seriously doubt you will make it through this phase though so don't get ahead of yourself yet.

Excuse me who said anything about home PC sims?

You all assume much. And you are all WRONG. So wrong it is painful.

Ever heard of SIMCOM?

Pathetic. Absolutely pathetic.

Damn right.

That's why I tolerate all of you. I realize not everyone can be brilliant. There is this thing called the bell curve, a normal distribution of talents. I don't expect many of you to understand this so don't sweat the details other than to understand that for every person like me there has to be someone who has to ride the short bus as Henning has so eloquently phrased it.
