Joel was PP-ASEL before he had an automobile operator's license. He right-seated a lot of hours for me when I was confined to the practice area, and we visited a lot of airports in ME, NH, MA. I couldn't Log the time because of his non-instructor status, but it was left-seat experience.

As a high school graduating senior he received a 4 year AF ROTC scholarship to ERAU(Florida), and entered with a fresh Instrument Rating. As a 3rd year student there he was one of 625 applicants for a USAF pilot's seat upon graduation. 50 seats were awarded and Joel was a recipient. The day these photos were taken he(with his father as passenger) moved my new toy from Wiscasset to Auburn-Lewiston. Several days later he became resident at Moody AF Base, Georgia(it's Payback time) for the next year. He's into flying T6 Texan(s) as preliminary to flying what he refers to as "the ultimate."

Edit: And, yes; the two forward vertical posts will be replaced during the July 05 Annual. I already have the pieces as well as a replacement center console.

During a summer off from ERAU, and prior to being a future AF pilot's seat recipient, he spent several weeks at an introductory AF boot camp. I think it may have been at Moody AFB.
