TCM sold to Chinese Company

Will we be able to buy TCM parts at Wal-Mart?

That's a good idea! I'll see if I can get a Sam's Club price on a pair of IO-520s for the 310.

I assume this means that Continental will stay in Alabama and the profits, or lack thereof, will go to China.

I was wrong to correct steingar's quote -- the profits will not really accrue to shareholders. They will accrue to a Chinese state-owned firm.

The e-mail I got today claims Continental will stay in Alabama (I work for another Teledyne division).

I hope they just don't stop producing anything! They discontinued the dual mag.

You best get that overhaul done before we run out of Italian/chek parts. :)

Each new reman com with Fortune Cookie! All warranty work now done in Shanghai! Parts must be hand carried back as TSA no longer allows freight shipments in toner cartridge size cartons. Man who not need new engine, fortunate . Best, Dave

At one pint Japanese companies started buying up corporate properties during the days of the Tiger economy. Sony bought MCA/Universal, for example. For the most part it didn't turn out so good for the Japanese, and not so well for some of the companies they bought.

That said, if the Chinese bought Continental because they really need cutting edge 50's technology, they're in worse shape than I thought.
