I installed a SIM magneto on a plane with the digital tach from Electronics International. The stand-alone tach model R-1 would not function with the electronic mag. Rather than buy an expensive signal adapter I decided to renew the electronics geek living dormant inside me. End of story: a resistor inline between the "p" lead post on the magneto (ignition) switch, and the digital tach cured the problem (18k ohms)

For those without the EE geek in them, EI sells an alternative resistor/capacitor adapter for the e-mag side with the R-1 for a few dollars.
