Supermarine Spitfire damaged following runway excursion, Deer Park

We're likely getting close to that time where it is no longer practical to fly these old war birds. The legacy parts supply is exhausted and a lot of the folks who really understood these planes are no longer with us. The static museum value tipping point is coming where preservation for future generations to see these planes in museums is worth more to mankind than fly-by's at airshows.

When was the last time anyone saw a WWI plane fly or a plane from the 1920's? Retiring planes from the 30's or 40's isn't far behind.

Don't get me wrong I love seeing the old gals fly, nice if it cold happen forever.
