New information on this crash with video capture of the descent. Apparently the wing folded in flight. Pilot and passenger both died.

NTSB report reveals new details in deadly Anchor Point plane crash

The National Transportation Safety Board has released its preliminary report on a plane crash near Anchor Point that killed one person and seriously injured a second.

That's horrible. Rode it all the way down.

Weather was beautiful, so it wasn't spatial D leading to graveyard spiral. Either over G or material failure. Report was a bit unclear but sounds like the struts fractured.
 
Most likely a ski check cable failed and the ski came up and hit the struts. The forward cable attach on a Cub isn’t in the best place if the rear cable fails. I also heard there were eagles in the area so he may have hit one. They’ll figure it out. They probably already know. The report was vague, likely on purpose.
