Anyone fly today? I did two IFR flights in Florida ,great day had a good breakfast in Venice fla.

Today was a day to pause and reflect on what my next goals in aviation are. In other words I lacked motivation to fly in 20F weather.

Went out and enjoyed the aircraft great performance in a 27f flight.

I flew some practice approaches tonight in the 170. Was great! I love night flying.

Here on Long Island it was 32°, winds out of the NW @25 gusting to 38. My son and I decided to go to the park and fly our kites. A gust of wind popped the string and fed the kite to a tree:rofl:

That was fun.

I finally did another GAMI lean test today despite the bitter cold here (-5C on the ground, -17 or 0F at altitude). It was a good flight and I certainly enjoyed the great engine and airframe performance (not only the low temperature, but the barometer was up around 30.50). 1.8 hours logged.

But boy is it cold for November! I punched through a thin layer on the way up to the ECK VOR for my test, but I'm starting to think I won't be shooting any more approaches in actual until next spring. Bummer. :(

I'm in FL and was planning to take a non-flyer friend KPMP-KFMY, just across the state... but with a 26k gusting crosswind predicted for my return, I bagged it. That's above my paygrade at the moment.

I was shooting some practice approaches under the hood on Sunday. On the second approach we had just turned on final when my safety pilot said he was turning on the window defrost because we were icing up. I looked up and the entire window was ice. I next looked at my wings and could not see any ice yet. I told ATC we would land on this approach. By the time we got to 1000 feet all the ice started to melt. All was good and I made the best landing of my life. Flying is FUN!!!
