At OSH looking at the stratus for my I Pad any info for or against on the product ?

I'm a big fan for SA IFR. I was an earlier adopter and coverage just keeps getting better. Check the map though and make sure it's available where you want to use it.

Waited until coverage for my area, which coincided with the Stratus 2 release. I really like it.

Well, I bought a stratus 2 at OSH today. Hoped to use it on the 2 hour return flight, but couldn't get it to pick up radar more than 50 miles out. Guess I'll have to read the manual. My iPad had a strong signal over wifi for the whole trip though, despite the fact that I just took it out of the box and threw it in the airplane, without charging it.

I'm still trying to decide getting the Garmin 39 for the 796 or stratus for iPad. Choices, choices.

I'm in the same boat, except I am debating the ForeFlight versus Garmin Pilot debate.

I sure wish someone would come up with a way to interface the gdl39 to an MX20.

I bought a stratus and went with foreflight. BUT I may as well have flipped a coin. They are both awesome.

Thinking about selling my Stratus 1, case and Ram mount.....or I could give it to my son who is learning to fly....decisions.

This is part of the challenge/problem.... So many solutions to get the ADS-B broadcast, none which cover all the iPad Apps.

This is making for some interesting discussion in our owner's club... We all would like something for this, but we have a split between those that like/use FF, WX, and Pilot.

From what I'm hearing from everyone, you don't see much traffic aside from the "big boys" currently, although this is predicted to change as we get closer to 2020.

Still thinking of getting a used stratus 1 for the weather info.

If you have an "out" source in the plane, you will pick up more traffic. If you couple the Stratus with a device like the SkyGuardTWX, it will improve the traffic view.

Purchased the stratus at the how just getting familiar with it.have been using a garmin 496 with weather.Stratus seems the way to go ,weather and some traffic for no charge.

Ok, your iPad picked up the stratus GPS single ok on your trip home?

We're you able to get weather, etc over the stratus?
You will not get ground radar target data unless someone near you has ADS-B out and you are piggy backing on the information sent to them.
You should get direct data on aircraft with ADS-B out information and possibly other stratus equipped aircraft.

I'm a little confused -- supposing two aircraft with a Stratus are flying in an ADS-B coverage area, and nobody in the vicinity is broadcasting ADS-B out. How would one stratus detect the other stratus?

They wouldn't. What I think he is saying is that if another airplane is broadcasting an "out" signal, an airplane with (or without) a Stratus and an active transponder would be picked up. At least that is what I am reading into his reply.

Ya, sorry about that. The status do not talk directly to each other.
