Still using a PAPER airman's certificate? You've got 7 months...

I should get a new one with my correct address but I want to keep Orville and Wilbur.

1) You did report your new address, right?

2) Do the newer plastic ones NOT have Orville and Wilbur on the back? My plastic one does.

I let a friend of mine know about this new rule and he told me that the address on his certificate is where we lived in Missouri... 25 years ago.

Of course I reported it. I knew somebody would ask.

For some reason I thought there was new plastic certificate design but I can't find an image - the "secure" version with a picture?

Anybody get one recently?

Does it look like:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pilot_certification_in_the_United_States

No mention. I AM losing my mind.

I'll guess I'll spring the $2 for an updated version when finances allow. :D

I got one yesterday (for EP), and it looks like the image on Wikipedia you linked to. They did ask for a source for a picture when I requested it, but specifically said that the picture would not be on the certificate. Options, IIRC, were passport or driver's license. Why they wanted a source, I really don't know.

That address from 25yrs ago does not invalidate his certificate as long as he has a current address on file. They do not issue new certificates every time you turn in a new address.

I know that, I just thought it was humorous. I doubt if he'll ever fly an airplane again, or even get in an airplane. When he retired/quit about 5 years ago he was done.

Thanks for the reminder and the link. I ordered mine this evening.

I think I'd have to upgrade to paper. My original certificate is a papyrus scroll in a clay jar in a cave near Qumran. :D

Seriously, thanks for the heads-up. I just ordered my new one.

Well, if you had the stone tablet version, the plastic gives you a few extra pounds below gross weight! :yesnod:

I like ordering new driver's license personaly. I did that last year and got the same photo that was taken when I was 18, woohoo! I feel young(er) again.

Why do we have to do this? I kinda LIKE my paper cert. It takes up less room in my wallet. Are they afraid someones going to forge one? Or is it just another gubment thing to keep track of you. :mad2: :mad2:

Congress thinks terrorists will forge them, which is why they ordered the FAA to go to high-security pilot certificates; it wasn't the FAA's idea.

Yes, because a piece of paper/plastic will prevent someone from doing something illegal.
