You okay down there? Your airplane okay? How far away was the tornado?

A few gusts here, but all the damage reported on the news was at least 60 miles away, the plane is another 20 miles in the other direction. The same storm put down a tornado within 10 miles of Kathleen, but she's ok.

From what I can tell the Yazoo City twister hit the opposite side of town from the airport there.

I do find this news article lead in somewhat ironic:

Modular homes sought for victims of tornado

And, it's not over yet

The state could be in for bad weather again this weekend. The forecast calls for severe thunderstorms possible from Friday into Saturday

Glad to hear you're OK, Steve....

.... but when I hear about tornadoes hitting Mississippi, I have to think about the 'old' Jeff Foxworthy skit about tornadoes hitting the trailer park --- "It was pandalerium.... It sounded like a freight train..... all I could think about is 'Sharon-Jean still has my casserole dish!'..." :D :D :D

Glad you're OK Steve. Had a bit of a twinge wondering how far you were from the action.

Thanks for the notes of concern. I'm not a "warm fuzzy" kinda guy, but it is comforting to know people do care.

Being a steel reinforced concrete structure I think the homestead could take a small to medium twister, but not the F4 that hit north of us last weekend.

What's the phrase.....divorce or tornado....someone's losing a house trailer?.... ;)

Glad you're alright Steve! (The womin-folk too!)

All I can say is that Leslie and I took a Severe Weather Spotter training course Monday from the NWS! Now we can officially report "Yup, that was a twister that took out the trailer park!"

Don't they know that more mobile homes are just additional tornado bait?

Yazoo City and MS are under the gun again tonight, with tornados reported on the ground.
