Stadium Flyovers

An interesting look at stadium flyovers.
You gotta suffer through a 15 or 20 second pre-show show, but I thought the article interesting.

Wait, wait! THANK GOD it's those ... the red, white and blue FIGHTERS and BOMBER JETS the patriots came to applaud flying over the defenseless stadium crowds and not those DANGEROUS propeller planes towing banners that THE NFL LOBBIED TO BAN! :dunno:

Hey NFL, the Flag of The United States of America and the red, white and blue design is officially licensed by the citizens of the United States of America. All rights reserved.

Hmmm. Me thinks someone should get them a calendar:
In honor of Independence Day, NFL Films takes a look at the always exciting pregame flyby. Posted: Monday, July 28, 2008 | 10:49 AM

Reminds me of being at an airshow at Alliance in Fort Worth one year. I had a scanner to listen to the radio traffic, and a friend of mine (a non-aviation fanatic unlike myself) was listening as well. We heard someone (not sure if was the show boss or someone from the military flight team) tell the F16 fly-by team (that was coming from somewhere in Oklahoma) that the singer was ready to start the national anthem, and ask if he could he get their ETA. The flight lead's response was "We just crossed the state line, tell the little lady to start singing, we'll be there before she finishes". My friends response was, "They can get here that fast?" :D Welll..duh, they ain't driving silly!

They timed it perfectly at the last note of course.

Better work on my preflight,.. I try to arrive within 30 minutes of my VFR flight plan  Maybe next time I'll fill out the form with Arrival time 2100.00Z :D

Those guys are good, and always enjoyable to watch, knowing the precision they put into everything.

One of the things you miss when you watch sports on TV is the whole flyover. It's almost like they take it as a different event. With NASCAR, they usually give you a little snippet, then pan the crowd. They tend to do the same thing when they drop the green flag.
That was a good piece. It must have been quite a site to see the C17.
