I have a Sprint EvDO air card that I use when traveling. So I'm sitting at LAX waiting for a flight, and internet browsing seemed really s-l-o-w. Ran Sprint's speed test (included in the network connection client) with the following results:

Latency: 477 ms
Download: 146 kB/s
Upload: 10 kB/s

The client is reporting an EvDO Rev.A connection. (the speeds are more like 1xRTT).

Can you say "****y"?

Assuming the network capacity issue is ground segment, not air, that won't make any difference...
Network capacity is more than just at the wired end. When wireless guys speak of network capacity it could mean that not enough air channels are available. That is normally the most limited factor in any wireless data system. With at least two spans to each base station wired capacity is seldom the issue.
Channel limitation could be hardware, cell density, or even spectrum channels

We're all texting to each other as we drive. Every single one of us. All robbing your bandwidth. Likely one of the following:

"omg its all wet this sux wtf man"

"people cant drive in rain for s*** GO BACK TO YOUR SHANTIES PEOPLE"

"dude some guy totally just ran off the road i wonder if he's ok i didnt stop to look"

"haha people in seattle live in this all the time, losers!"

:D

yes, Scott, I know that. Not a rube about that stuff, ya know. The capacity issues are a combination of both wired and wireless.

Sorry I even bothered to fuss about lousy sprint service.

No problem, I was not sure, sometimes people, even the RF engineers at wireless companies, forget about radio channel capacity. :cheerswine::cheerswine:

I have gone a few rounds with operators trying to get them to up their channel cards in base stations. Thankfully the company I had to do that with no longer exists. Hmmm, can't imagine why they went out of business when:rolleyes::rolleyes:
