I don't know if you guys know about this already or not but apparently there is this new "phone book" spokeo.com. It seems they take information from multiple online sources on you and compile it all in one place. Including your home address, pictures of you, children, credit score, ect... I just went on there and found more on me than I even knew about and removed myself from the search lists.

I don't know how you feel about it but you can go on and find your search page, then at the bottom right of the screen there is a "privacy" button, you can click on that and follow the directions to have your information removed.

I found myself and they had some information right and other information wrong - I wish my house was worth over $1M.

But it was easy to remove myself. There's an erroneous listing from a previous address, I left that just to mess with anyone who relies on this stuff.

Well, they didn't have me listed and I tried every permutation of my name I could ...so guess I'll check now and then and see if I show up.

The two things I noticed were... For detailed information, it's $2.95 a month. To defend your "reputation", it's $9.95 a month.

Nothing like causing the problem then providing a solution for it.
 
They don't have one piece of information on me from the past decade. Heck, I just noticed they don't even have the correct old Texas address for me. Google does a better job.

I think my parents were geniuses for giving me an incredibly common name. Hell, my Dad was a genius for having the ancestors with the very common surname.
 
The information there about me is ridiculously wrong. A lot of it seems like just guesses based on demographics.

Well, they were right enough on some of my information for me to not want to be one there.

+1 - There are 20,970 people in their system with the same name as me (given name and surname). Like others, much of the information is wrong (including the phone number). Do I care? Nope. Wish I could get the million plus my house is supposedly worth, though.
