Anyone have a good suggestion on how to get rid of spiders?

All of our aircraft have spiders crawling inside and out. You can leave the plane parked over night under the shade hanger and the next morning it's covered.

It's bad, I can normally count a dozen or so grass spiders just sitting in the cockpit.

When I was in high school my parents left on vacation for two weeks. My luck there was a power outage which forced me to go into the basement to prime the well pump. So I'm down in the basement priming the pump and I happen to notice all these brown dots moving. When I looked closer I saw thousands of baby brown recluse spiders. I decided right then I could live off bottle water for a few days. :yikes:

I've got a friend I'll send your way, just lock her in your plane, the first spider that crawls on her, she will kill them all. You won't have an interior or windows left and the cabin will have some odd bulges to it, but I assure you, all the spiders will be dead.

CY-Kick is a great product. You must remember to kill most spiders it has to be a contact kill. Meaning you must contact the spider with the pesticide.

Spiders are not insects. They are arachnids.

Residual pesticides are not very effective when it comes to spiders.

Residual pesticides work well on insects because insects are constantly cleaning their antennae. This is how the transfer of pesticide is made to the body. Spiders do not have antennae and their long legs typically keep their bodies from contacting residual pesticide.

Flat glue boards in strategic places help to maintain some control when your not around to spray. Also pay close attention to lighting in the area. If possible keep lights off or try alternative bulbs that do not attract flying insects(spiders favorite meal).

What's that "Chinese Spider Chalk"? I used to get it in San Francisco when I lived up in the Delta, drew boxes around the doors and windows of the houseboat, worked amazingly well.

Chalk or dust works well as long as there is not a lot of moisture. Food grade Diatomaceous Earth is also a great "organic" solution to many insect problems. Works great here in California and a few other dry states until humidity lvls render it ineffective.

"Chinese chalk" has been subject to having toxic chemicals added...not really necessary when we are talking about chalks or dust to eliminate pest issues. Chalks and dusts act as desiccants....removing moisture from bugs to effectively kill them.

The "transfer" is the leading quality to make them effective....they do not transfer well in a moist enviornment.

Like someone else said - remove their food. We have seen a significant decrease of spiders in the house after having it regularly treated for insects on the outside. No spraying inside.

Ewwww - yuck.

Spiders gross me out. Here in California, there are black widows in the garage. I used to RAID them, but there are just too many and they keep coming back, so I tell myself as long as they stay in the garage and not in the house, I'll pretend I don't see them.

The only spider I like is an orb weaver. One spun a huge web last week in front of a window on the house, and he'd hang out right in the middle of it waiting for prey. But he didn't last long, I don't think he built the web in a good spot for bugs. Couple days later, he had moved on.

My kids each have a t-shirt we gave them...
