When I got to my unit in Germany, they had some old stocks of C rations from way back. Nothing like opening a can to get your brownie.

Eatin’ is better than not eatin’, given the choice! LOL
I have a couple of those dudes who “sample” MREs in my YouTube feed. I have no idea why. Some of them look decent.
The countries that just pack various fish products into cans and shelf stable crackers look pitiful. Eating that for a month would suck.
I also learned we used to have a food relief MRE for disaster areas and they were yellow packaging and had our usual chemical warming thing — and something about those made them useful to terrorists and bomb makers, so we changed the bag to pink and no heater anymore. Most of the disaster relief ones are also vegetarian to avoid offending anybody, apparently.
