I showed up today for my first lesson, and it was a pretty good day- hot but with spotty lift due to mostly broken clouds.
When it was finally my turn, the sun was poking through more and it was quite hot, with a vanguard of thick puffballs appearing, and some big monsters brewing not far away (which later clobbered the airport with heavy rain). Looked promising, although it was going to be mostly an introduction to boxing the wake and flying the pattern.
I was strapped in, getting my briefing from the instructor, all set to go... and the tow plane wouldn't start. D'oh.
Vapor-locked and a charging problem... it was done for the day.
But I helped with the ground ops and learned a few things; even handed over a check for a buy-in and first year's dues.
Might have another go at it Tuesday if my schedule and conditions permit...let's hope I'm not really a jinx after all.
