Each year billions of tomatoes are bruised or even cut by careless handlers and owners. On average 1 out of every 1 tomato has it's life ended at the edge of a knife.

Given these simple, unarguable facts isn't time we mandated tomato shelters so that they may lead full lives?

Discuss.

Yes we should legislate this and make people who live nowhere near where tomatoes are grown and even people who don't like tomatoes have them as well. We also need cucumber safe spaces!

Tomatoes, like Snowflakes, should have their "safe spaces". Bread, bacon, lettuce and Mayo will never be allowed in there. :D

Actually, I'm raising the fence around my garden this weekend, trying to keep my deer friends on the outside.

I mixed a tomato plant and a tobacco plant one time. Had to use a spittoon just to eat a BLT....

That's not how you do it. You have to go up to the top of the thread and select ignore in the drop-down. Otherwise you're just going to keep seeing all of this.

we're not allowed to talk about that on here anymore.

Cucumbers have feelings and they should not be hurt. Like tomatoes, they need their safe space. No salads for them. LOL.

Where's the emoticon for a cucumber?

Tomatoes are known for going up in flames.

Or is that Potatoes?
Potato shelters are common many parts of Colorado and Idaho. Are you advocating for them to be nationwide? Or were you advocating enflamming masses of potatoes? Ima cornfused...

Gentrification often pushes those tomato shelters out of the inner city, just so a Whole Foods can come in and sell kale! Evil corporations.

Potatoes don't deserve to be sheltered. They are cowards... the soil turds of the garden... pathetically hiding underground from the big bad world above. Their predators, if you can even call them that, are things like worms, beetles and white grub.
...it's never black grub. They keep to themselves.

Meanwhile their tomato counterparts are up there every single day bravely facing the open air and all the atrocities that come with it. They take blows from violent storms, suffer long days of brutal heat and painful cold, and battle REAL predators, like rabbits, woodchucks, deer, raccoons... you know, things with TEETH.

Yet do tomatoes ask for shelters? No.

So, why are you people trying to mandate things the tomatoes don't even want? Do you not think they are capable of making decision for themselves without folks like the FDA breathing down their vines all the time?

Besides, you aren't even doing this to help them. You are doing it to help yourselves. So you selfish jerks can pluck them just in their prime of life and savagely devour them in all their juicy, delicious glory.

I don't know how any of you sleep at night.

I'm seriously craving a BLT right now.

Are we still talking tomatoes here?;)

Girl, you have issues that even bacon can't cure.
