We graduated from Vale Union High School in May and on July 3, 1952 we were married in a little church in Payette. We were only 17 and so were not able to get married in Oregon. As most of you know my wife Essie has cancer and is not doing very good. She has two events she wants to be able to attend. One a grand daughters wedding June 1st, and our 60th wedding anniversary on July 3rd. Just so some of you don't get the wrong idea our oldest was born April 3, 1954. I am lucky to have the fine friends on my pilots forums and in my home town for the support that I have received. I want to thank you all for that.

Our wedding picture 1952.

You have friends, admirers and supporters you never even knew about. I am one of them. Godspeed to you and your wife.

Bob,

Prayers to both of you. Here's hoping that she makes both events.

Thsi one can be pertty uncomfortable for Essie, Bob. I wish her ease above all else.

She has severe back pain. a couple of compression FX and they radiated a tumor that developed in her back. She is on a pain patch and pain meds.

I'm moved by your story. Nearly 60 years, and it's obvious your love for your wife is as real and as tender now as it was at 17. It's an inspiration that makes me want to be a better husband, and a better man.

May you both get her wish, and more.

She's had a blessed life snagging you in '52. That will never change.

Know that we care and wish you peace in this trying time.

Bob, I hope she makes it to the special events. I know she has wonderful support from family and friends and hope that you have enough help too. Being the caretaker for a loved one who is so illl can be very tiring and it's important that you take care of yourself also. Do you have a good hospice there? Use their services... Even if it's late at night, if you need help you call the nurses that is why they are on call. And if there are volunteers who can come sit with her to give you a break to go out it helps to do that as well.
I've served as a chaplain for the hospice here in alpine and I understand that each family finds their own way. I know that your love for each other is making you strong and helping you live through this important time together.
Naturally, our prayers are with you and Essie.

Thoughts and prayers, Bob.

Lots of love from the pilot community to you both.

And your love and dedication to each other is an inspiration to us all.

God has truly smiled upon you both and it reflects to the rest of us.

Thoughts and prayers to both Essie and you Bob.

Well, best of luck with both events, can still recognize you both between the pics.

Thank you so much for sharing the pictures, your love for each other radiates across time and distance. It warms my heart to see it.

You are in my thoughts, I wish only that she can be as comfortable as possible and enjoy the friends and family around her as much as possible.

When my mother-in-law lived here I often told my wife I wanted her to have no regrets. I suspect I needn't give such advice to you, Bob. I must echo Bruce, I hope she can be made comfortable, this sounds like a dreadful illness.

+1 Bob, not sure I could say it any better than Chip. Keeping you both in our thoughts and prayers.

I can't say it any better. Best wishes and prayers to you both.

God I hate Cancer, Mom died of it, Dad died of it, and it has taken a lot of my old buddies.

But, it is the best reason I know to keep your ducks in a row, because you never know what tomorrow brings.

WE wish you and your wife the best, and will keep you in our prayers.

Bob,

I can see from the pictures you have been making each other smile since 1952!

My prayers are with you both.

Bob, I've never met you... but you and your wife have earned a high spot on my prayer list.
