Is there a safe way to send a credit card number via email? We would like to send flowers to for a funeral in AU. Their web site won't take US credit cards, they have to be manually entered there.

How about if we spell out the numbers ocassioinally?

Just call them. Email is not secure.

Skype.

Or see if they'll accept a Paypal payment. That's fairly secure and requires an email address.

For everyones benefit. The idea of spelling numbers or changing format has been known to the hacker community for 20+ years. If you can read it, so can their algorithms.

OTOH, most of the time who really cares if your credit card gets snagged. You make a phone call and two days later you have a new card. Just be aware that these kinds of tricks aren't effective if someone is actually looking at your bits and think you can use them to protect more important data.

One other thought: does your card provider offer a "one-time" number that's tied to your account?

Good question. I just called them. It's Thursday morning there already.

I never get use to the time difference, mind boggling really. :yesnod:

What's really boggling is flying into LAX from Brisbane 5 hours before you took off.;)

I flew to Sydney once and completely missed Christmas. Took off Christmas eve (Dec. 24), landed Boxing day (Dec. 26). Christmas day was a few hours long, and I slept through it. It's the ultimate Scrooge thing to do.

When I was in the Navy I crossed the international date line many times. Could never understand how we never crossed to have 2 Sundays. :dunno: We always had two Mondays, or going the other way lost Sunday, our day off except for standing watches. Funny how that worked.
