Another idiot celebrity who can't get his priorities straight and is above society.
 
My only comment is that Tiger plays golf. He endorses some products. He does not go on talk shows, radio, endorse political candidates or causes (to my knowledge) or any of the other things that many entertainers do. So I don't think that he seeks a celebrity "status" as some folks, for instance, Brittany Spears, do.

So I really don't think the public has a "right" to know about how he manages his sex life or marriage.
 
I treat a few professional golfers... A number of years back one of them commented that Tiger had a reputation among insiders on the circuit of being a horn dog... He was single at the time, so <shrug>...

Depends on what we think a "right" is.

But there's an unwritten "celebrity" contract, and "we get to crack jokes about you when you get caught cheating" is in that contract. The reason people sign this contract is because the gig pays good.

Tiger was enriched by his celebrity, and that celebrity and wealth bought him women, and those women bought him some public scrutiny and mocking.

Ain't nothin' free in this world.

I agree, but don't feel that Tiger signed the "celebrity" contract. He plays golf - extremely well. He gets paid to endorse some products. He doesn't seem to seek celebrity at all.

Britney? Celebrity
Madonna? Celebrity
Barney Frank? - Public servant, so if it pertains to the job or his public position on issues, fair game
Warren Buffet? Not a celebrity
Stephen Udvar-Hazy? Not a celebrity
Tom Poberezny? Not a celebrity
Harrison Ford? Tiger Woods? - kind of gray.

I don't think that being good at something, even if you make a commercial, is grounds for your entire life being public fodder. Only if (like Madonna or Britney) you actively encourage people to care about absolutely everything you do have you signed that "contract".

I guess I'd have more sympathy for him if his celebrity was just the result of golf, sort of a "can't I just play golf without people hounding me about my private life?" sort of thing, but getting paid to endorse products is being paid to be a celebrity. He chose to work his way "up the ramp" of celebrity. You get a tiny bit famous, and do tiny ads, which make you a little bit famous, and win you some little ads, etc, and eventually you're very famous, and do very big ads, which make you super-famous.

The set of people interested in his story now don't intersect much with the group who are interested in his golf game.

Sorry, Tiger does non-golf related commericals solely because of his success on the course - that places him most definitely in the celebrity rhombus.

He REALLY screwed up. He makes his living by playing golf but also with his squeaky clean image. Now one of the two is gone. Yes, in our fast paced news cycle this will blow over, but he will never be thought of the same again. It may cost him some money, but he really has as much as can be imagined......

Unless his wife takes half of it and she's entitled to it! Dumbass!

It's pretty obvious a lot of people do care, or should I say are fixated by this scandal. Have you seen the news lately? :eek:

...and we haven't heard the last of this by a long shot. This AM there are two more bimbos coming forward. Gloria Aldrich (media attorney) canceled a press conference yesterday because Tiger paid her and bimbo #1 off BIG TIME!

I have to say I'm gobsmacked at the speed at which his life is unraveling.

I don't know much about him but I always thought he was on the straight and narrow. Maybe he should have stayed single.
