There is an air show this weekend. Will be my first air show, though it does not count since I'll be spending one entire day (8+ hours I think) working in the hot sun for the ninety-nines. I am a volunteer in one of their fund raising booths. Not sure if I will get any breaks, or how structured it is.

Are there any pilots going to this event? Patty Wagstaff will be there.

You do know the 99s have a kissing booth, right? Which booth you working?;)

Possibly in the booth where we sell hot dogs to raise money for pilots... Or maybe I'll work the silent auction. Don't know yet. I would have to wear gloves if I'm handling the meat.

My intention for the thread was to notify pilots of a cool air show in the area and see who may or may not be in attendance.

Nobody responded or showed up. Oh well. Just proves there are no California pilots on POA !!!!

At least in my area. No big deal, I spent the day working and talking planes with dozens of interested pilots. Got some business cards, too, for flight schools at KSTS - after I get my cert it sure would be nice to have "options".

Did you join the 99s? I went once, wasnt thrilled.

STS is not a 'major' airshow. After one has flown into many if not hundreds of airshows, one begins to be very choosy. Also, there are so many attractions all vying for one's attention on any given weekend. Factor in the price of avgas, the economy, etc and you'll understand why attendance may be off.

CMA Camarillo also had their airshow last weekend. And Watsonville and Salinas are bigger shows than Santa Rosa. It's just the way it is.

And an airshow this close to OSH just isn't gonna see big numbers. I know several pilots who plan their whole aviation year around OSH and Sun n Fun.

Of course when working a show, you want to see big numbers.

Seemed the weather wasn't the best in the mornings. I'm just 20 minutes away and like to go there but low ceilings sent me elsewhere. Maybe next year.
It's a nice show with lots of good static displays. The tower can get snippy....

An old man was introduced to me while I was working the booth. When he found out my name was "Kimberly" he aked me if I owed the P-51 on display. Turns out it had my name painted on the side. I will upload pictures when I get them off my phone.

That may just be around the airshow. More than one plane on approach and they've doubled their usual volume! :D They're normally pretty nice.

I didn't make it (daughter's bday party), but it did seem, from northern Petaluma, that the C-47 was doing turns around a point. The locals weren't quite sure what was going on.

I did not end up working the hot dog booth. I ended up working the raffle / silent auction booth. So I will never know if they even offered ketchup.

That is good that you were not part of a potential tomato based terror event! :D

I am in Greece this week. At lunch yesterday they served hot dogs. Regular sized hot dogs on a 12" baguette with .....YEECH....ketchup and coleslaw!!!!!

No wonder this country is going bankrupt, there hot dog policy is abysmal!

We had the gang over while I worked in DC. We served a breakfast of French toast. The Slovakians asked for ketchup.

I was. Too much stuff going on though. I think I heard you on the frequency at O69 the other weekend. Good luck on the checkride. Remember, the key to this particular DPE is to get him talking! :)

Sam,

There are at least three girls (that I know of) who train in little 498. Unless you saw me, it could have been one of the other girls. That plane is booked solid on weekends. Funny though how a few pilots on POA have now "possibly" heard me on the CTAF. Small world.
