In what can only be described as TSA handlers gone wild, the San Diego Harbor Police arrested an area resident for refusal to complete the screening/security process yesterday. This is the same airport that created the TSA security catch phrase “don’t touch my junk.” John Kliner of San Diego started the airport screening firestorm last week as Americans head into the busiest travel week of the year in the United States.

Once again, Mr. President, please lecture us on why this is the ONLY way to do it?

This is how a police state reacts when it's authority is challenged. Don't worry though, in a couple of weeks it will all blow over and the sheeple will get in line and do what they are told. Then they can go back to watching their favorite TV shows and worrying about what to buy on Black Friday. If we keep lowering wages too then all anyone will be worried about is putting food on the table and then they will really get in line with the authorities faster.

You haven't commented on what is significant. Other than the arrestee acting like a douchebag by stripping.

While federal TSA consequences are civil fines, San Diego has criminalized the use of cameras to document your interactions at security. San Diego has also criminalized a refusal to submit to a voluntary administrative search. I'm flabbergasted. How many other municipalities and psuedo-governmental airport authorities have done the same?

The incident was confirmed by Harbor Police Sergeant Rakos who said Wolanyk was arrested on two misdemeanors,

THIS WEEK it will escalate as the sheeple who are convinced that it can't happen to them encounter it in the flesh as they take the family and kids to Grandma's house for Thanksgiving.

Two things will end it: 1) The constant ridicule (much less criticism) will make the TSA back off with "peace with honor."
2) Those occasional fliers will really, truly, for sure not fly again and the airlines will see the lower passenger loads, ask the market why, and demand a change.

I've given up hope that somebody will point out that the shoe bomber and the undie bomber boarded the airliners outside of the US so harassing citizens in San Diego is not going to catch the next one.

They won't miss the 3-4 legs/year that I've been providing, but neither will I miss the ongoing escalation of idiocy at the airport.

I think most everyone agrees that all this is nothing more than security theatrics, I am starting to wonder about that though.

The American people, us, accepted The Patriot Act with barely a whimper. I'm starting to think this is more of a government thing to see just how far they can go in controlling the population as a whole.

As far as this latest incident, San Diego is a cash strapped city due to all of the preposterous government employee salaries and pensions that were "negotiated" by the various public employee unions over the years. The only people they had to "negotiate" with were public employee, on behalf of public employees.

As a result of this, San Diego's law enforcement units have now been recruited to raise the city's coffers any way they can. Citations are way up, arrests that can bring a monetary return are way up. That is why the harbor police jumped on to this incident, for the possible fines.

Traffic checkpoints are common in San Diego and surrounding cities, anything to raise money.

We even have a water police unit that patrols our streets looking for water wasters to cite. Watering must be done based on even and odd address numbers, specific times of the morning or late evening only, and on specific days. They have significantly stepped up enforcement during the rainy season, in hopes that people will think we are not rationing water. They made it as confusing as possible because they see it as a cash cow.

The citizens of San Diego have not let out one peep of disapproval, it's full steam ahead. Money, money, money.....

John

Meh - I think the average American has WAY too much faith in government.

The vote for the Patriot Act was 99-1. The 1 was Sen. Russ Feingold, D-WI. So, what did we do with him? We replaced him (as of this coming January, of course) with a nutjob who's already made Fail Blog.

Feingold was one of the biggest proponents of privacy in the Senate, and introduced the Justice Act to pare down the Patriot Act. I'm sure he would have been a big ally in getting rid of the scanner/grope thing.

:frown2:
