Hey guys. For comparison, which aviation career has a higher starting salary? Airport Operations or Flight Dispatcher? And which aviation career would have a higher top salary (as you progress through your career)?

A friend of mine who is a current aviation student in my alma mater college was thinking of going into flight dispatching after learning about the starting salary for airport operations and the starting salary for entry-level customer service/ramp positions at the airlines. I told him the starting salary for dispatch probably isn't too different from airport operations or airline customer service/ramp positions.

But I want to look more into this comparison.

Is the average starting salary for airport operations and flight dispatcher really all that different from each other? And which ones will have a higher top salary after progressing through the ranks? I'm asking this for a friend.

"Dear David, Thank you for applying for the Coordinator, Airport Operations position. At this time, we have chosen to pursue other candidates that better fit the needs of our company. We appreciate your interest in our company, and encourage you to apply with us as other positions that fit your unique qualifications become available. Sincerely, HR Department Columbus Regional Airport Authority"

Got this today for the 5th time in 2 years. Can't answer your question, but I wish you good luck!

I am getting out of aviation except for possible occasional teaching. Not worth it any more.

At least at the Majors, dispatchers earn more than ramp rats and ticket agents. A Lot more. And they need a license.

Indeed. If I recall correctly, the knowledge test is identical to ATP.
