Hi All -
Planning a flight tomorrow from KFCI to KLNS. Planning on routing > MD82 > 27MD to avoid restricted areas, SFRA, and class B. I will get flight following.

Thoughts on this route, or any suggestions? It's my first time through this busy airspace, and this route seemed like it was the best balance of staying clear but not going completely around. Otherwise, I would add 50+nm if I wanted to pass around the other side of R-4005.

Looks like you'll still clip restricted areas near Pax River and near Phillips AAF. It wouldn't take much to miss them, but be careful if following the magenta line on the GPS. I'd highly recommend flight following for sure. Other than that, I'm not overly familiar with the territory. Someone else will probably come along shortly.

If you were planning on throwing some points in to your GPS for this, I'd go VPAXI -> CIDOB which is still having you clip the Bravo. If that's a concern of yours, you could go BILIT -> CIDOB. Either way, with FF, you'll be fine. Enjoy!

Aw, just go direct. You'll get to see some very cool jets up close and personal.

When flying to / from KLNS to destinations south of Washington DC, I normally opt to travel around the west side of the SFRA. I've done flights similar to the routing you mention, and it seems like there's significantly more commercial traffic when you get into the area of KEVY (between KBWI, and KPHL). Flight following is definitely a must! On the plus side, if the weather is nice, you're in for some awesome scenery!

If I were planning the flight from KFCI to KLNS, I would likely do the following KFCI > CSN > MRB > FDK > KLNS. This is my go-to routing for getting to the south of the SFRA, but might be a little further that what you proposed. Scenery isn't as nice, but generally traffic is much lighter.
Shortly (10mi) north of CSN, I normally check with ATC about getting clearance through the KIAD Bravo direct to FDK, and they generally are very accommodating. This shortcut only saves you about 15mi, so if they're crazy busy, I normally fly the full routing without bugging them.

If you haven't taken the SFRA course yet, I'd recommend that you do that. It doesn't take that long, and it's a good idea in case you end up not being able to avoid the SFRA for some unplanned reason. I cant post links yet, so just google "SFRA training course"

Have a Safe flight, and if you're looking to grab a bite to eat, Fiorentino's on the field at LNS is good.

Here’s one that misses the R’s and the B. VPACE TRUTH CIDOB.

Interesting... I was wondering if anyone would suggest the westerly route and if so, why. I was primarily looking at the east route because it seemed shorter and with less terrain.

Also, the aircraft has a transponder but no ADS-B, so unfortunately anything within the mode C veil is out :(

Depending on the weather, I may take a closer look at this. Thanks!
