How many of you are Corevtte fans?

There is a new Corevette for 2014.

For some reason I cannot make the link work.

I have a C5, and don't really like the front end on the C6 (which is why I got a C5), and I don't think I like the looks of the C7 at all.

Sorta "out there," but I like it except for the Camaro-looking back end treatment. Perhaps it will grow on me.

As long as the performance is there... which I fully expect it will.

I like the Stingray badge. A split window would have been a nice touch.

It needs flip up headlights, and a different rear, and perhaps a different front and body. Other than that it's really nice.

Now if Ford would just do an inexpensive '68 Mustang...

I actually wish Ford would have used the GT as a long term competitor to the Corvette. The Corvette is a world class performer and GM should be proud of it.

The thing about style in my opinion is less is more.

The classics have just enough style and subtle touches without being overboard.

63' split window 427, oh hell yes.

This one.... looks like some 16 year olds tried to make it look like their Honda Civics with a bunch of over the top body work.

Keep it classy Chevy.

By coincidence I had the same thought. I've never looked at an ad for anything later than '63.

:yeahthat:

Corvette lost me with the Stingray.

I think it's frig' hot! I see part Ferrari. Some Camaro and a little Lamborghini. The two Articles I read, didn't talk about power plants. Down side is its made by GM. So it will look good, but be a cheaply built pile of junk. It pains me to say it.but true. Just my Opinion, not going to argue about

I have owned 3 Vets, 1966 Roadster, 427/ 4 speed, 1971 LS5 454/Auto and a 1974 L82/Auto. New Vets are way out of my price range, so if I buy one it will be an early 2000's ZO6.

I loved the 63' and have owned several Corvettes. The big engine in 63 was a 360HP fuel injected 327. The 66 and 67 could have 427's, but the 327 was a MUCH better engine for a mid-year.

I'd sure like to see some classic styling, but will probably have a C7 at some time. The C5 was to my styling liking, but I see what the younger crowd likes in the more radical body. For the person who said GM makes junk, you are seriously ill informed.

Last year was an abysmal failure for the Corvette. They rushed the new version out to try boosting sales. We will see how it works.

I'm not a fan since the late 60s. At least the newer ones have decent performance.

Had a new 1968 and now, since new a 1998 C5 -- C7 mechanicals /interior look interesting and in person it may be good looking overall. Need to see it in person.
Chassis tuning with separate pieces for front mid and rear main members could really help since the single piece hydroformed part had a lot of compromises.
C5 has been a very good car for the last 14 years.

Front looks as nice as the new Ferrari. The rear looks hideous...
Performance is astounding! Weird mix.

I've never had a problem on any curves. The tight cloverleaf freeway ramps, I can take at 60mph without having to feather. But I'd like to hear the expert opinion of those that don't own one on how much they suck.

OK, big boy, if that's the way you want it, I've got a Yukon XL that's also made by GM, and it isn't all that great on corners. Take that.

I prefer cars that can actually perform well on the curves.

You obviously haven't driven one recently! :nono:

See this from Motor Trend:

"....during the 2011 Best Driver’s Car competition at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, a Corvette Z06 with sticky, semi-slick Cup tires ran away from the rest of the field, posting a freaky fast 1:34.40 lap time with Randy Pobst behind the wheel. Not only was that time almost 2 seconds per lap faster than the second-fastest car (the Ferrari 458 Italia, 1:36.20) but the 505-hp Z06 had less power than the second- through fifth-place cars (458, Audi R8 GT, Lexus LFA, Nissan GT-R). "

How's those curves?

My 2500 Duramax also sucks in the corners. I think we can call this proven based on the feedback of multiple GM owners.:D

I could do the same in my little Toyota, and at a fraction of the price. That said the little Toyota didn't have what you'd call grunt. I miss that car.

Yeah, when I'm "gettin' it" I'm at 70 when I shift out of 2nd. Yeah, 2nd.

On the C6 I waited until I could afford a Z06 before I bought one. I didn't like the way the narrow body cars looked.... I don't like the back of the C7, or the front hood vents. I love the new side profile view and some of the interior... though I think some of the shapes are kind of weird on the interior. I watched the live unveiling and the video was really neat how they did it. I'll be keeping my C6Z06 though.. and just like before I'd rather have a C5Z06 than a base C6... so if it follows the same trends I won't have anything to worry about for a couple years.. But I don't think Airplane would let me buy anything that would take away from her now lol

PS. I'm at 60 when I shift out of 1st, and I'm at 90 when I shift out of 2nd... 120 out of 3rd... And I get 27mpg highway and 20 average. Best fuel economy of any vehicle in my house.

Oh man, 1984 was awful for the Vettes. 84-96 should all be scrapped.

Some don't like the styling, but the 84 began the current Corvette world dominance in sports car handling.

The 1990 Corvette ZR1 still holds unmatched world speed records.

I think we should merge Jays thread about "one less courtesy car" and have him buy one of these to replace the two existing courtesy cars. Should we vote on it?

I have a 68 stingray, restored to like new all original condition. Never been much of a car person. It has no redeeming qualities, hot in the summer cold in the winter, guzzles gas in a way that makes my bonanza seem fuel efficient and it hauls about the same load as a Cessna 150. Parts are as expensive as any plane part I've ever purchased. It's sitting sealed up in a garage on jack stands right now (the redline polyester tires don't hold their shape unless you drive often and they are expensive)
