Anyone know what the procedure is for picking someone up at McCarren?
I would be flying the mooney into probably signature, And the Pax will be arriving commercial on Southwest. I know their terminals don't intersect, because of the runways, was hoping for a shuttle, or any advice,

Thanks
Michael

1. Contact McCarren Approach and say "Hey, can I come down there?"
2. Find McCarren (not to be confused with the other big airport north of the strip with lots of gray planes flying out of it (right over my darn hotel room at the moment and BOY are they loud))
3. Land the plane, preferably on a runway but those taxiways are big enough, too. Just make sure no one else is using them at the time (it helps if you speak a foreign language for this on #1 above).
4. Find Signature amongst all the fun things to look for at McCarren. Don't get distracted by the nearby nudie-bar across the Strip, okay?

I suspect that's not what you were looking for, though, huh? ;)

I think there is a shuttle that goes around. Otherwise call Signature and ask?

Yea, i was pretty much wanting to know if its walkable or if there is a shuttle. I know all about the ridiculous fuel prices and ramp fees at LAS already :)

That's not noise. That's the sound of freedom!

Avoide KLAS. It's too much of a hassle. Have your passengers get a cab to North Las Vegas (it's not that far) and retrieve them from there. With the fees and probable delays getting out of KLAS, you'll spend far more than cab fare will be.

If you really want to save dollars, you can even have them hop one of the casino shuttles to the north end of the strip (about $10 each), and then get a cab to North Las Vegas.

Signature will drop off and pick up at the main terminal. It's free,.. but you will pay for it, in a big, expensive way with fees. After my last trip to LAS (the one where I actually made it) I promised myself I would never to fly into that airport again. Don't even think about asking for air for a tire or oxygen for a tank, they can't do it.

Fun airport to go into though. I actually heard the controller lose it on the radio at LAS. She was replaced a second later by a calm soothing voice.

Ditto the North Las Vegas & cab suggestion. I did the reverse on a Mooney ferry a few years ago and the cab fare was ~$15. Much cheaper than the landing, ramp, and handling fees you'll likely hit at $ignature. Call to confirm, but that is my expectation.

If you opt for LAS, $ignature will pick-up your passengers at the terminal. Easiest way is to give your friends the $ignature phone number and tell them to call $ignature from outside the baggage claim area to request a ride to the FBO.

The consensus is to avoid KLAS at all costs and I wholely concur. In addition to exorbitant ramp fees and avgas prices, services from the tower are about the worst I've seen. North Las Vegas has much better service and prices.
