Hello all, I bought a 65 Piper Cherokee 140 recently. During the pre buy, we noticed several cracks in the spinner cone that were stop drilled so we are replacing it with a new aluminum cone.

Do I need to paint it? I like the look of polished aluminum and have considered just polishing it and installing it. Are there any issues with that?

Any one taking issue with that, best find something better to do.

Polished aluminium will probably look better than trying to color match to your faded paint.

[Edit: Not commenting on your paint, just that I assume all paint fades in the time it takes to have multiple stop drilled cracks on a spinner]

Replacing a spinner? Try tinder, or plenty of fish...personally I like them a little thicker with some meat on their bones, but to each their own.

Glad to hear you're putting on a new cone. Always amazed when people ding around with something as life supporting as a spinner & prop. Amazing how much stress they operate under.

Next 5 posts of guys who weld-up worn out spinners with old props... in 3-2-1..
