Those of us who’ve been around these parts for awhile remember POA pre-Xenforo. Those same folks will remember so many of the ‘legacy’ charter members that used to contribute a lot. It always humbles me when I come across an old thread with dozens of names that I haven’t seen for years. Some have flown west, others just had life get in the way of their flying endeavors and haven’t participated for a very long time.

Those threads remind me of the camaraderie that we once had here, not as though we don’t have that now, but the dynamic is just different without so many of those folks. Richard, Mike Schneider, Chuck, Chip to name a few.

Good times they were.

Those who still visit and regularly participate, thank you; it’s because of you that we still have an open channel to hang out and discuss a subject we’re all passionate about. A lot of these forums have definitely gone by the wayside and I’m glad we’ve fought the good fight and managed to keep things alive for all these years.

Brings back a lot of memories both good and bad.I always enjoyed reading most of the threads. Also liked reading the spirited discussion on different aspects of flying.
 
Times change. People change. Sometimes they just get bored of the same discussions and arguments.

So do I. Quite frankly, I wish a lot of the decisions over the years had been different, in regards to moderation, but here we are.

During the usenet days (before PoA even existed) we had rec.aviation.* groups. Most people used their real names, and did not hide behind avatars. Conversations were a bit more civil. Only a bit more. Actually, may be not. :)
 
Some folks just seem to slip away. I haven’t seen anything from Peter Steinmetz in a year or so, and it’s been longer for mscard88. And what’s going on with Nate (Denver Pilot)?
 
Flew and met up with Peter and his son on their way to OSH. Had a great visit. I know he's getting into a different site so probably more time there. He's really cranking thru the ratings and now rotor so maybe on heli forums someplace too.

Sure hope Nate is okay.

I was on there frequently as a student pilot, and honestly remember getting some great tips that helped a lot. That's one of the reasons I stick around for the same thread to be repeated over and over again, because I know there is some chance I can share a bit of knowledge that might help someone who doesn't feel like suffering through using the search tool :D.

Hiding nonetheless. I remember one lass that I knew personally. You could tell by the way they interacted that most fellas had an image of her that did not at all match, which she rather enjoyed.
 
Was that the clown who was convinced his hours spent playing MSFS made him more qualified than any pilot with actual flying experience and always jumped in with wrong answers and then argued about it?

I was interviewing someone for a job, and one of the questions was 'how would you handle the same question being asked over and over again'. One guy gave a very thoughtful answer. He said questions are rarely the same. If you listen carefully there is always something different. That's how I feel about the questions here. I learn something new almost every time, even on age-old questions like logging PIC time etc..

So I have to follow a rule book that was put in place before I ever joined the moderation team, I’m confused as to why you hold that against me. C’est la vie.
