Had the chance to try one out today since the 172 I fly is at its 100 hour inspection. We did some normal flying at first and then tried some ifr. Normal flying felt pretty useless to me. No control feedback at all. The trim wheel didn't relieve pressure. Rudder control seemed almost unnecessary in normal turns in fact the ball seemed to roll in the opposite way of the turn. Everything felt sluggish. During landings it was very easy to start flopping back and forth just trying to get things level. Even though I have nothing to compare to i can see where the ifr training would be useful. I think next time in the sim will be for simulated emergencies and panel and system failures. Not planning on using it for normal flying again.

One problem I have with them is that I can operate my aircraft for less than renting a Redbird FMX.

I think in my case it is cheaper. My main issue is the lack of feedback. I mean I had full feedback controls for my PlayStation nearly 15 years ago
