Hi All,

Fairly often, in the aviation magazines, I see a "rear driven propellar" airplane.

Have any of you flown one of these? Special certificate? Category? Do they handle well?

As an IR pilot with a high performance endorsement, can I jump into one and "just fly it?"

Thanks,

Terry :dunno:

The only thing that comes to mind to me is something like a Long EZ, some flying boats (like the Lake), or the Cessane Skymaster with the push-me pull-u configuration.

Is this what you meant?

From a safety standpoint, it's probably not smart to jump in a very different plane from any you've previously flown and try to fly it without a checkout, but other than that, I couldn't say -- just how good a pilot are you? However, from an FAA-legal standpoint, as long as it isn't complex, "high altitude," multiengine, a tail-dragger, or over 12,500 lb MGW, yes, you can do that legally.
