We are looking for a plane that the owner stopped making payments on. We "think" he may have taken it to Canada, however FAA Plane Registration database still shows it as in the USA.

Questions:
1) I am assuming if it was imported into Canada and registered there that the FAA would de-register it?
2) As Flight Aware doesn't show a track for it going into Canada, I'm assuming it didn't cross IFR (if it did cross). Would a VFR Flight Plan filed for crossing the border be tracked on Flight Aware?

As to 2...maybe, maybe not. You can satisfy the cross-border NOTAM without being in a radar environment or even VFR flight following. At least so far :frown2:

When they stop making payments on them they sometimes lose track of other "details" regarding border crossings and other trivia. You know how a guy can get busy and stuff can just fall in the cracks.

As far as 1 goes, when an airplane is exported to another country it shows as de-registered and imported on the FAA database. It doesn't take that long to show up either. However, if the owner doesn't sell it and it just hiding it in Canada nothing will show up.

If it was registered in Canada within the last 30 days you could find it HERE. That said, it's fairly difficult to export/import with a lien attached. Selling it as parts seems to be the only way for them to minimize their exposure.

What is the airplane that you are looking for? What is the N-Number? Any ideas on what Province that it would be in?

Sorry but I can't tell you the N number as that would reveal the owner which would be a breach of privacy regulations. It is a Rockwell Commander which was based in PA which we think may have been taken to Nova Scotia.

I think somebody stole my airplane. Can you help me find it?

Sure, what's the tail#?

Can't tell you. It's a secret.

Say again?
