Thanks for your insight and enjoy the flight!

Good point... I found out that the AutoHighlight (on; it's off by default) really helps in clutter reduction. WayneI really wanted to like aero maps, but it was still too cluttered the last time I tried it.
Tristan, cool that you checked out the aeronautical/autohighlight!I actually switched back to the aeronautical chart from the sectional this evening on a flight for all the reasons you listed in your vid. Wasn't aware of the autohighlighting for airspace, that's pretty cool, though not much of a factor for my local area.
Wow, well your kind words just made my day!Wayne, I count a day as lost if I fail to learn something new every day and this video was it for today!! I have not used "track up" on sectionals for the reason you say. I didn't know that the aeronautical chart fixes that!! Really slick! Thanks!!!
Excellent point on the jump areas. There are also other notes on the Sectional (e.g. military procedures). I'm going to start during preflight to look at the Sectional, scribble on the map, and the scribbles will also show with only the aeronautical enabled.Wayne, I've been flying that way for some time now and really like it too. I remember last year landing at an FBO somewhere in Montana or Wyoming and one of the guys was looking at the iPad display, wondering what app I was using. He'd never seen anyone use Foreflight that way before and didn't realize it was Foreflight.
One thing I found that you don't see with the sectional off is parachute jumping areas, so for VFR flights, I typically review the route with the sectional layer on before departing. There may be other important things that would also be missed -- if anyone knows of such please chime in.
And of course, it's so easy to flip layers on and off that you can periodically do this in flight as desired. I often do this on long flights, confirming landmarks, etc, just for something useful to do.
NordicDave, I totally agree... a huge improvement. The AutoHighlight of airspace... and then the Profile (terrain, airspace, selectable) top it all off nicely.Aeronautical maps was the singular reason I upgraded to the pro plan. In the very congested oddly shaped SFO bravo the VFR sectional was difficult to read the bravo’s boundaries. Aeronautical option Was a huge improvement. I also like the feature where they have the local center displayed floating on the map in near the area you’re flying.
aero charts was a $25 add on with Pro. I tried it a couple of times before I gave up on it.It appears that now defunct Pro subscription doesn’t have aeronautical charts

Gary, in my opinion, well worth the upgrade cost.Good timing since my subscription was due this month. I upgraded to pro plus.
A simple "Yes, that is correct" would have been simplerA screen shot of the current subscription plans.... see my red circled item in left column.

I thought Aero charts are part of all of the "plus" packages, including the now minimum "Basic Plus" *
*An artifact of the pricing model changes over the years but its pretty silly that all of the available packages are now Plus packages.
Now where is the fun in that??A simple "Yes, that is correct" would have been simpler
Thanks for watching... and best wishes on your cross country! Thanks for this. Learned something new. Was supposed to do my first solo XC yesterday and the highlight feature woulda come in handy as I have to skirt around SFO’s bravo. I fortunately had to scrub it for the second time in a week due to winds.
