Premier 1 driver reported to FAA by "pilot"

Will someone be releasing the cliff notes version of this thread?
 
Guy made a minor mistake, posted video, troll made a mountain out of a mole hill.
Some people think since you don’t have to make a call it doesn’t matter if your calls are accurate or not and some think if you’re going to transmit you should try to be accurate. :p
 
I have no idea what to say at an uncontrolled field.

I only go to towered and non-towered airports. Makes my life easier.

P1D called clear of the runway he was on at an untowered airfield about 25 feet from the line.

Student pilot says he broke the rules, serious matter, against everything he was taught.

P1D responds that the student was technically correct, but traffic had lined up and was waiting, (edit) a Cirrus in the downwind, so he tried to help expedite the situation and called early, it's not a big deal.

Student pilot did not like the answer so he filed a report with the FAA.

P1D gets a call from the FAA, explains what happened, says FAA tells him he doesn't know why this was filed, have a nice day.

P1D, turns on his video camera, while still upset about phone call, tells the story, need to watch for details.

Student had used his real name, P1D viewers apparently voice their displeasure, driving student from all social media and a gofundme that was set up to pay for students flying lessons ($76K, maybe $750 collected.)

You're saying "lined up and waiting" which is not known to be the case, the departing Comanche could have been / probably was holding short until the "clear" call. And the plane in the downwind was not another jet, it was a Cirrus.

Accuracy...

Whatever, close enough, just like his call he was clear the runway. @OkieAviator apparently my cliff notes weren't perfect......

Actually, speaking of Martha King.. you guys know that back in something like 2010 they were pulled out of an aircraft because the N number was coming up as stolen.. allegedly they were removed at "gunpoint"

Thank you for your apology.

That comment was about the possibility anytime a pilot is reported for something the pilot could potentially have action taken against him where he's not able to fly for a period of time or worse. P1D uses his jet for his work.

Finally my only inaccuracy in my cliff notes was calling the Cirrus a jet, I'll fix it, thanks for pointing it out.

Guy didn't even really make a mistake, given separation requirements. Did you know that tower controllers can clear planes for takeoff or landing with 3000' separation, in most situations?

No, I think this kid’s future has him piloting a P210 through the Vegas Bravo without a clearance.

It's true. Thankfully she and those khakis of hers made it out unscathed.

Why is this thread continuing you ask?

Because like most posts on Internet forums, its just another social experiment. There is absolutely nothing to be learned here that would make you a better/safer pilot. There has been a very small percentage of people in this post that seem to think the pilots actions were sloppy, and “technically” wrong. Ok, that’s true and the pilot acknowledged that. Where I, and the overwhelming majority here have a problem, is when someone takes something so unbelievably insignificant to of all people, the FAA!!
For any of you here, and we all know who you are, that believe this was “technically” pilot error, as an adult licensed airman, would you even in your wildest dreams ever consider reporting this to the FAA? Hell no!!!
For those of you that feel bad for the kid that reported this, and the uncomfortable ramifications he is having to deal with, you truly shouldn’t. Up until this point he clearly was never taught basic social skills. If anything be thankful that he will now have to let go of moms nipple and put his big boy pants on. You can bet your ass he won’t do something this stupid again.
This kid knew EXACTLY what he was doing when he made that call. He didn’t do it for any other reason than to cause a problem. For that reason alone I have no sympathy for him.
For any of you here that think this was in any way, a legitimate call, your out of your mind, and thankfully the FAA thinks so too.

Jet driver can’t see what’s behind him.

He should had used a different phraseology, “exiting runway...”

I do this when I want to make 1 call: “exiting runway 14, will be taxiing back via A”. Sometimes it’s better to tell people what you’re going to do instead of what you’ve already done.

I do the same thing in the air, “Mooney turning base”, “Mooney will be departing to the south “

Now that I have admitted this on the internet, I guess I should get ready for a call from the FAA?
 
I don't know, I personally do not line up and wait anywhere except for towered airports, and even there it just feels really bad.

At uncontrolled airports, you may think "there seems to be plenty of time", until you find out that you just pulled up to line up and wait, in front of that guy with no radio who was between the guy on downwind and you.

I never assume everyone has a radio, and I'm not in such a hurry that I can't take an extra minute or two, to just wait and visually clear final, and the runway before pulling out.

OK, I did not mention this, but I thought the same thing - I have NEVER "lined up and waited" at a non-towered airport. I have always waited behind the hold short line until I saw (or hopefully got the "clear" call from the aircraft on the active runway) before I pulled out on the runway and immediately began my takeoff roll. Once I get on the active at a non-towered airport, I can't wait to get up and off because of that very concern of someone on final not making calls or without a radio that I did not see.

Just can't be a good idea to line up and wait at a non-towered airport.

BTW - as someone who cooks in their small single engine four place non-air conditioned airplane, I would appreciate someone like Premier Pilot in a "big boy" airplane who made their call just a little bit early in order to be considerate of me down at the other end baking in my little airplane. Maybe not exactly "correct", but it was courteous and professional in my opinion.

I'm pretty sure it was the public that taught the media, not the other way around. The fisherman does not have the luxury of being able to teach the fish which bait works best.

I suppose that would depend on whether you thought the media exerts any influence over the public, or not. ;)

I think the media gives the public what it wants in order to pump up numbers for ad revenue. It may reinforce views the public already had (conformation bias), but I don't think it changes many minds.
