Please everyone be safe this long weekend where ever you travel. I just got word a classmate of mine was killed earlier today by a hit and run driver. Not a good way to start the holiday.

Dang. That's never something good to deal with.

I banned driving on holidays almost two decades ago. The increased risk simply doesn't justify the reason for travel on such days.

Scott, I'm sorry for the loss of your classmate.
We only drive across to the other side of Atlanta to the in-laws for that very reason, and that's dangerous enough.

I was driving us back from my fiancee's parent's house in the boonies last night when I saw the nastiest accident I've seen in a while on I40 in the Tijeras canyon. Guaranteed a fatal (they shut down the highway for it)

Driving on NM333/RT66 was scary at night, on a holiday, with nothing but drunk drivers around.

Seriously, **** this state.

Come on up to Nebraska.

What Scott said. One of yesterday's headlines locally was "Five killed in separate crashes." :frown2: Also, I was cut off so close yesterday I couldn't see the back of the vehicle - That's less than 3 feet in front of my bumper - TWICE. (And yes, this is in the truck.) Saw two multi-vehicle pile-ups yesterday, and almost got stuck behind another fatal coming out of Chicago on Tuesday night. Sigh. :(

Folks, your family wants you home in one piece. Be safe.
