I was told not to run platinum plugs in my 100LL engine. Some kind of erosion problem.......

Is that true?

Cheese and rice...I thought $25 each for regular plugs was high, how much are platinum plugs?

Unobtanium is probably better than platinum anyway. ;)

Tempest Iridium fine wires UREM38S are close to $95 ea. No erosion noted. Just more efficient combustion, better starting, thinner wallet.

got a valid reference for that? I've never heard that said about them.

My IO-540-D4A5 runs smoother and more LOP with them. Less lead fouling too.
good quote..from your link.
There are two primary reasons why fine wire plugs are more effective than massive plugs.
First, the massive electrode’s shear size shields its own spark from some of the fuel / air mixture around it. The result is less than even ignition which is less efficient.
Second, the iridium alloy used in the fine wire plug allows the use of a larger spark gap.
The larger gap results in a hotter more powerful spark.
