Does anybody have any info on this one? One of the fatalities is an extended family member. Far away from where i live. News reports seem to have little details. My pure speculation based on one photo and mentioned location is stall/spin. This was not his plane, but he was an experienced pilot with commercial rating. I also found a tracklog on flight aware that appears to be the accident flight.

Sorry to hear this hits so close to home. My take on the photo as you try to make sense of it: Is the right wing at the site? hard to tell. ntsb will want to find all four corners. Check local police and sheriff tweets and media. Local tv too. No engine or prop looks like more than a spin, which would typically have all four corners flattened at the site. Although could be a very low attempt at recovery in a dive. At the destination airport, slowing to enter in the pattern? Check Glasair owners groups too. I had the honor of announcing Bob Herendeen and the Glasair took a fair amount of airspace and energy to do the maneuvers. https://cdn.aviation-safety.net/wikibase/282479
