Anyone know where I can get a scale drawing of a Piper Cherokee Instrument Panel? I want to recreate one, but I don't know how to get the dimensions (I don't have access to a Cherokee at the moment...)

Starting point is 1C14 in the PA28 2003 Parts manual, but it's an exploded view from the rear. Part numbers depend on which model but the most common are

62154 00
67120-02 (cherokee D, 1969 and the one I'll take measurements)
67120-10
67120-13
67120-16

I'll take measurements next time I'm at the airport, probably Tuesday (tomorrow) or Wed morning.

No becaue i've been attacked by the flu....wondeful sunny, calm, brisk weather and I'm slugging down chicken soup like it's water. I'm hoping for Sunday. Kudos to Costco for 12-packs of kleenex.

Just a suggestion... You can download Scaled Plans for an R/C model and blow up the Instrument panel to Full Scale. It should be pretty accurate. It would be more accurate than simple measurements that won't take angles and arcs into consideration.
 
Nick I forgot was going to do it for you today, I have other measurements to take for a fella on a PA32 tomorrow I'll try to take some good ones and give you some radius' too. I know a fella that might even have a CAD file for a PA28. Are you just trying to build a scale model of one?
 
If you're really in a hurry, get one of the panel shots from Trade-a-plane and use it to get baseine dimensions, then scale up to reality. Or if you've got MSFS or XPlane, use one of the panels and scale up. I've attached two Archer III panels. The first one is the panel direct from XPlane and the second is the same with the 1/8 in grid from Illustrator.

40" between the wall panels
(not counting glareshield) it's 16" tall at it's tallest point.

from the center of the yoke at a 45 degree angle to the radius it's 12"

What year and model Cherokee?

There are scale sketches in the owners manuals and POH ... this is for the '69 Cherokee 140B:

That's almost perfect, but there's no dimensions there.

Still very helpful though!

To be sure I'm accurate, its 16" in the center of the panel from the top (above the intercom) to the bottom (below the throttle/mixture knob)? That seems really short, but I could be remembering the panel incorrectly.
 
I'll be at the hangar early in the am. I'll get you better measurements top to bottom I think you still need the top to bottom length of the narrow part below the window too.

that's what it is, the little offset area on the left/right is 8" long (2" of that is "inset"

Don't pay too close of attention to the tape measure, the weird angle

I know my BF made a new panel for a pilot (long before I was in training or even "liked" airplanes). The pilot had an older plane. My BF went to the hangar and used paper to "trace" it etc then made a cutout with the CNC machines using some plastic until it was correct then made the real thing using, I think, metal. It had to fit perfectly and I know the guy was happy.

And here's why I ask:

The panel is becoming a reality. Next up is to build the frame for it and the seating arrangement. Then, I'll focus on the windscreen/monitors.
