In celebration of Women of Aviation week in March, I am putting on an event called Woman Fly it Forward at KFDK where we will be taking non-pilot females for a free flight! Static aircraft displays and professionals in the aviation industry will be there to talk to the girls as well. If you would like to volunteer with your plane, please email me at womenflyitforward@gmail.com I am hoping to make history on March 12th, the highest number of girls at a Fly it Forward event so far has been 262. Help me reach 300!

For more info you can check out my blog www.toriaflies.blogspot.com.

Thanks!

Thanks for the welcome and the well wishes! I've been on this board for over a year now, but finally got around to making my mark lol :)

99s, WAI and AOPA members will be giving their time to the event, however it is the brainchild of the Centennial of Women Pilots and Woman of Aviation Week. The main goal of these groups is to introduce women to aviation. There are no member fees or publications or such. It just provides support, ideas, and works as a promotion tool for people who want to put on events such as this. If you submit a female non pilot introduced to aviation during Woman of Aviation Week they get a certificate, their photo on the site and entered intro drawings for prizes.

I sure wish I could! That's a great event to put on! There's never enough girls in aviation! My boss was actually laughing at me today (jokingly). I put a picture of the women pilots photo gathering from last year's oshkosh on my wall at work. The girls that ride along with their boyfriends don't believe me when I tell them they can be pilots too!

They sure can! I have! And I do fly along with my boyfriend, too, but I always steal the controls. I just can't land his plane...can't reach the rudders :(

For some reason my reply to Cap'n Ron didn't show up. Members of the 99s, WAI, and AOPA will be there to help out but this is done through an effort called Woman of Aviation Week. It's purpose is to support events such as this and participant non-pilots get their picture on the website, a certificate for flying and entered into drawings.

Just wanted to let everyone know that all pilots volunteering to fly for this event will receive a 50 cent discount off per gallon of gas!

I would love to help out but Oregon is a long stretch from you. I do a lot to help out not so much like you are with the females, but with kids. boys and girls.
Here is an example of my flying.in the Idaho backcountry. http://youtu.be/8EPJkvyIt_E
