The original "I don't know it all" of aviation.
I currently use 1Password but am thinking of switching to Dashlane since they offer a few features they offer that 1Password doesn't and those are something I can use.

Which Password manager do you use and why do you like it over the others?

If you use Dashlane, what about them gained your business?
 
I've been using 1Password for many years now. I'm quite happy and can't really think of anything that I'm missing that would make me switch. I like having multiple vaults and sharing those vaults (like I have one that is just mine, one that is my wife's and one that we share for various things). I have most of my family on 1Password, though my father went his own way with LastPass. I think the important thing is using one and never using the same password in two places. I'm sure if I had started with another password manager first, I might be just as happy with whatever that was, but I do like the ubiquitous support and syncing I get with 1Password (macOS, iOS, windows, android).
 
My experience parallels Ryan's: I've been using LastPass for many years now. I'm quite happy and can't really think of anything that I'm missing that would make me switch. (I'm a single user and don't share with anyone; I know it has some features for sharing but don't know anything about how they work.) I use it seamlessly across my Android devices and my Windows machines at work and at home, though it is slightly problematic with IE at work as it requires admin privileges to install those components (the Chrome extension can be added without admin privileges). That's no issue with IE at home, and there are only a few work websites that require IE so it's not too big a deal for me. (I don't know that other password vaults get installed, so not sure anything else would avoid having the same issues.)

Like Ryan, had I started with another password manager first, I may have been just as happy. I originally chose LastPass primarily because it seemed to be the most popular option at the time, but also partially because of its association with XMarks (tool to sync browser bookmarks across platforms and browsers). They have since killed off XMarks, so that benefit is no longer present.

I know the spelling makes it seem like a porn repository but it is a really great and secure pw manager and it is free.
I use it at home and at work.
 
I use 1Password. Like Ryan, I have two vaults, one for work stuff and one for fiance and I (she used to keep them in a book). It seems to work well.
 
I keep them on paper, in a small book in my briefcase, as recommended by a guy I know who does programming for an insurance company. He's the same guy who told me never to let the bank or credit card companies make me go paperless. "Secure" is a word that has acquired some new and conflicting meanings.
 
Keepass... Its free, I can back it up , and it stores locally instead of on the internet.
 
IPassword for me. Started using it years ago and see no reason to change.

I memorize them all and change them every 60 days. Probably close to 50 different mnemonics.
 
I have a drop dead simple way of creating unique, but easy to remember, passwords for each site that are also complex. But, if I told you, I'd have to shoot you.
 
The cool thing about my "passwords" is that if you asked me, I couldn't even tell you what it is... Without a keyboard in front of me!
 
1. Pick a word. Let's say "aviation."

2. Mess with the capitalization a bit, for example, "aViatiOn." That is now your special word.

3. Pick a special character. "#" is a nice one.

4. Passwords = YYYY + [special word] + MMDD + [special character].

So a password created today would be

2019aViatiOn0716#​

Now all you need to record is the site and the date of the most recent password change:

POA 7/16/19

As long as no one knows the rest of the formula, you can store it as a text file.

I'm currently on Lastpass, but ever since LogMeIn bought them it's been downhill. I've been thinking about Dashlane - it's pricy but includes VPN.
 
I’ve used both keepass and Lastpass. For the paranoid, keepass wins as it is all your own. Then again, it is only as secure as you are. Plus you get to giggle every time you open the app.

For ease of use, and proven security, Lastpass. Auto fill, auto gen, sync - it all works damn near all of the time. Kind of sucks when it don’t thought. But, lastpass was massively hacked and breached and all that, and it was a non-event for users because of their security practices. Forced password reset and all back to normal.

Last Pass here for 6 years now or something like that. I Just dont put any credit card or bank account info in there.
