Is this a pre-oiler?
(It came with a bunch of parts from an engine I bought)

If so, anyone know if it’s reliable/unlikely to harm my engine? Thinking of installing it.

Exp airplane.

As mentioned it is an oil filter with a very fine SS screen that can be cleaned. As I recall they became more a hassle given the filters needed to be cleaned more often on aircraft not flown regularly. I believe the company went out of business a number of years ago. From a design standpoint, improved oil filtration is always a plus except if you need to clean the filter every week.

Maybe ADC went out of business? Oberg is who made the filter is still in business. Those filters were run on many nascar engines and many others.
I would not hesitate to use it on experimental aircraft.

The wires have been cut;
6 total including a (probably) pressure sensor which had two wires.
One is a bond to the chassis.
One is another, internal sensor, I think.
5A fuse is two of the 6 wires.

The single wire on the back in the center should be the bypass light switch. Don't know what the other wires or sensor/switch would be used for. Maybe hour meter? Might want to take it apart and check the screen before installing it.

I think there was also an option for a chip detector on these. So could be several wires. I know ADC had an STC for several models of aircraft. Popular on planes with older Conti's that only had the internal screen filter.
