Report makes it sound to me like a stall/spin while executing a missed approach. The ILS for 12 does have a climbing right turn on missed. "Dwiggins said eyewitnesses told police the plane was possibly attempting to turn back toward the airport when it "flipped over" and nose-dived into a corn field, bursting into flames."

The accident happened at about 1348Z. For reference, here’s the METAR that was reported 11 minutes after:

KAID 061359Z 00000KT 10SM BKN060/BKN110 21/18 A3004

The clouds lowered not long after as a front approached. Some light to moderate convective showers rolled through about an hour after.

The aircraft owner (and presumably pilot) was a friend of mine. I know that aircraft fairly well.
